Faithfulness

I love the faithfulness of God. He is always there, present in every moment of my day, ready for conversation and patiently waiting for me to turn to Him. I have experienced His faithfulness in new ways since my illness. 6 months have now gone by, (WOW), and His steadfast presence and reminders of His love continue to open my mind and heart to the depth of His love for me.

This week after all the snow, I needed to put on my snowshoes to get to my bird feeders to fill them with seed. I needed the assistance of the snowshoes to keep me on top of the snow as we actually had a couple of feet on the ground. As I was walking on top of the snow, God gently reminded me the many ways He has been carrying me above my burdens of my illness.

Through each hospital visit, He was there through my husband getting me there quickly to the doctors who already knew my case and I didn’t have to explain everything all over again.

Through each of you and your prayers that have carried me when I couldn’t put one foot in front of another, the calls, texts and cards that arrived at the moment when I needed a lift.

And mostly, God reminding me of His presence and love in the birds I watch, the deer who eat my bird seed, and the beauty of creation. God is present, He is listening, and He knows my needs each day.

Praise God my health has stabilized. Dialysis is working well, I am feeling like my old self, my energy has returned-I think we’ve turned the corner. Now we begin the wait for a new kidney. 18 months from now we can begin testing for donors. I have been praying for the person who will be giving me the gift of life. May God stir their heart to be willing to donate and provide them with good health in advance.

When I chose to go the radical approach of removing my kidney, I knew I needed to lay it all before the Lord and trust He would be faithful and provide, in His time, the proper kidney for me. There it is……Trust in His faithfulness. This also requires me to trust in Him even if a donor isn’t revealed right away. As always, He is sovereign and His plan and timing are always perfect. I can trust in that. Sometimes much easier to say than to believe in my soul, but my past experiences have built up my faith in the faithfulness of God.

He has healed me from cancer before. He has walked alongside of me and my family through my mother’s terminal illness, He has sustained us financially in the hard times. He has blessed us with a long and healthy marriage, He has blessed us with trusted friends, a beautiful church family, and with the confidence of His love for us. I have read of His faithfulness in scripture and I have seen Him at work in the lives of those I love. He is God almighty, powerful, sovereign and in control even when life feels out of control. In Him there is peace and strength to face each day.

Do you know the Jesus I know?

When Moses had the opportunity to have God pass before him, after the writing of the ten commandments, we see God proclaim His faithfulness to the people:

“And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.” (Ex 34:6)

Our God is waiting for you to turn to Him with your struggles, your pain and your disappointments. Won’t you turn to Him today and lay your burden down and allow His love to wash over you?

May you experience the peace of our Lord and Savior today and feel wrapped in His love,
