Good Morning Chicago. There is snow on the ground yet again even though Spring began last week. I have to admit, I love the beauty of the freshly fallen snow, but I can’t believe those pesky flakes are still falling in late March. It just goes to show you who is in control of the weather.

Snow in late march is not unheard of and it reminds me there are many things in life that are outside of my control. It is God who is in control. Today’s snow reminds me that even the seasons are at His beck and call. Scientists set the seasons based on the location of the sun in relation to the earth. We give the seasons a name and use them to determine when Olympics occur, when gardening begins, and when we might vacation. God ordained the seasons. The seasons give the earth a chance for restoration and rebirth every year, just as God gives us a chance for restoration and rebirth in Him. The earthly seasons are a reminder of how He cares for each one of us. He provides the beauty of nature for our joy as a display of Himself so we are reminded how much He loves and provides for us.

The amount of snow received this morning was minuscule, but it was a glorious display of how God is in control even when we think we are. A display of His power over nature, but also a display of His gentleness and love towards us. This isn’t a snow storm, just a gentle reminder that winter hasn’t quite loosened its hold over Chicago. Winter is not quite finished yet, just as God isn’t quite finished with each of us yet.

Snow reminds me that because of Jesus, I am have been reborn to a new life. A life that can be lived not only in Him, but with Him daily. Because Jesus offers us purification from sin through His shed blood on the cross (Hebrews 10:22), we are able to live forgiven and restored with the God who created us. We are cleansed with the blood of Christ which washes us whiter than snow. (Isaiah 1:18, Psalm 51:7) This is a gift freely bestowed to us, so we can live in freedom from the penalty of our sin. We can be reborn through this gift, just as the earth is reborn each spring. A newness, full of color and life. Refreshed, renewed and restored. That is a life lived in the beauty of the cross.

Have you received this cleansing from Jesus?
If you have, How does your life display this rebirth?
If you have not received Jesus, ask Him to show you more about Himself through the nature you see right before your eyes this Spring. Open your heart to Him so He can show you how you can experience a new birth. (John 1:12-13; John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Peter 1:3-5)
