Resurrection Sunday

by on April 20, 2014

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” (Matthew 28:1-10)

He is not here; he has risen! (Luke 24:6)

Did you hear? Have you seen Him? Jesus, He is alive, they say He’s risen.  It’s true, all the teachings, the prophecy, true right before our very eyes.  I must go see Him.  Mary has seen Him, really seen Him. All the prophecy, it is coming true right now. Now I remember Jesus’ teachings, He promised He would rise on the third day. Praise be the Father, All glory to God!  My teacher is alive!

What a glorious day! He has risen indeed. Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, He has conquered death and given us new life.  With Him, in Him, we are able to live this amazing life together.

I find hope each day as I turn to Jesus in prayer.  Lifting up my needs and the needs of those I love.  Through Him I find joy and peace. It’s a joy and peace which cannot be found anywhere else.

I pray you had an opportunity to attend Easter services today. To celebrate all of Jesus.  But even deeper than church, I hope you take some time today to reflect upon His life and how He has changed your life.

Take time to praise Jesus for not only who He is, but for all the ways He has shown us how to live today.  He shows us how to be a loving servant to others, how to love our families and our neighbors, and to even love our enemies. Praise Him for the best gift you will ever receive, eternal life and fellowship with Him because He willingly sacrificed His life for you and me.

Scripture puts it best:

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:3-9)

May God bless and keep you this day and may you experience the full measure of His love throughout today.
